Fundamental Movement Skills

Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) are the building blocks for movement.

Children need FMS to feel confident when participating physical activity including games and sports.

Fundamental Movement Skills include:

·      Static balance          ·      Sprint run            ·      Vertical jump          ·      Side gallop          ·      Catching

·      Kick                           ·      Hop                     ·      Skip                         ·      Leap                    ·      Over arm throw

·      Two-hand strike       ·      Dodge

Research shows children, who have competent FMS, are more likely to enjoy sports and develop a life long participation in sport.

Got Game’s FMS Ball Skills program, recommended for Kindergarten to Year 2, teaches students the necessary skills to be active members of Physical Education throughout their schooling and beyond.
